Mansfield Refrigeration & Air Conditioning

Mansfield Refrigeration & Air Conditioning has a rich and varied history dating way back to 1922 when the company was formed by the King family.

We started off making ice to sell to households, shops, restaurants and any other customer before the widespread use of domestic and commercial refrigeration. The service developed to providing cold storage for local food producers and distributors, eventually progressing to servicing and installation of refrigeration equipment. Our customer base continually expanded to include farms, restaurants and factory canteens covering the whole of Nottinghamshire and also parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

During the 1960’s the company expanded rapidly, now managed and part owned by David Kirkham, providing service over a larger area, to an even broader spectrum of customers and encompassing an ever increasing equipment range. We installed our first air conditioning system to a Chinese restaurant in Nottingham in 1970 and since then have designed and installed thousands of systems in shops, restaurants, offices, computer rooms, labs and even cranes and flight simulators! Clients at this time included: Lotus Cars, JCB, Imperial Tobacco, BP, British Rail, Raleigh Cycles & Northern Dairies.

Throughout the 70’s water chillers were added to our diverse range of equipment serviced and installed, providing vital back-up to factories whose processes required chilled water to operate efficiently including Pork Farms, Fisons, Denby Potteries, GEC & Plessey Telecommunications.

As the market became more saturated with refrigeration & air conditioning companies we decided to concentrate on our sound engineering practice and bespoke service and to focus on our commercial and industrial customers with an ever increasing bias towards air conditioning and process cooling. This naturally developed to incorporate humidification, heating and ventilation and controls of all system types.

We currently service over 3000 pieces of equipment, across 160 customer sites and complete over 100 installations every year. Throughout the years MRAC has built (and improved) on our core values of providing clients with an honest, reliable and high quality service. We continually refine processes and systems to improve the service to our clients.

We invest in and develop our workforce to maintain an experienced core technical team and continue to operate a successful apprenticeship scheme. Following new ownership of the company in 2011, MRAC are looking forward to many more years of helping clients operate more comfortably and efficiently.
